Luises Garten

<< back

I tell Luise’s story through the accounts of her granddaughter Gudrun. Luise
was born after the First World War. She married a Nazi soldier, Paul, during the Second World War and two of her children
were born during the war. Luise never complained, she had no choice. Her life was marked by intra-family violence and by the post-war period.
Her garden was the place where she found peace.
This work rescues her story from a Website and an Audio-walk through the city
of Konstanz. Each story has been told in each season: winter, summer, spring, and autumn, as a way of talking about the cycles of life,
what we have to eat, how we survive violence, and how despite poverty, we are sometimes a little happy.
